Library Renovation: 3rd Floor Construction Begins

Preparations for installation of the sprinkler system in the Chester Fritz Library began on the 3rd floor west side on Monday and will continue to the east side. Construction workers will soon start to wrap all the book shelving in plastic to keep it safe from construction dust and residue.

If books are wrapped, please do not move the plastic to get your book. Check in with the Circulation Department behind the Access Services Desk on the 2nd floor if you’d like to access a book from behind the plastic.

Although the area will soon be closed to the public during this phase of construction, we’ll be able to retrieve books and other items that you need from the 3rd floor. To let us know which items you need, follow these steps to place a hold.

Will the library be open to students during the fall 2019 semester? If not, where are alternative places for students to study with both it and the Union being under construction?

The library has been open all summer and will continue to be open throughout the renovation, so come by and check out what’s happening! Be sure to follow posted signs around the library that indicate areas that are closed and ones that are open.

We’ll be open the following hours during the fall semester (starting August 26):

      Sunday: 10:00 AM – Midnight
      Monday – Thursday: 7:30 AM – Midnight
      Friday: 7:30 AM – 7:00 PM
      Saturday: 10:00 AM – 7:00 PM
