Chester Fritz Library Updates

News and notes from UND's Chester Fritz Library

Library Renovation: 7/22/19

Today (Monday, July 22), preparations for installation of the sprinkler system are beginning on 3rd floor west side and will continue to the east side. Construction workers will soon start to wrap all the book shelving in plastic to keep it safe from construction dust and residue.

If books are wrapped, please do not move the plastic to get your book. Check in with the Circulation Department behind the Access Services Desk on the 2nd floor if you’d like to access a book from behind the plastic.

Although the area will soon be closed to the public during this phase of construction, we’ll be able to retrieve books and other items that you need from the 3rd floor. To let us know which items you need, you’ll just need to follow these steps to place a hold request:

  1. Sign in on the library website as you browse for books.

Click the Sign In button under the orange "Quick Links"

  1. When you identify the item you need while searching the library website, click on the item you’d like to borrow.
  2. On the screen that pops up, click theĀ GET IT option:

  1. Then click to place a Hold on the item.

Hold requests will be pulled twice a day while the books are unavailable, and you’ll receive an email letting you know when you can pick the item up from the Circulation Desk. Talk with the Circulation staff (701.777.4644) if you need assistance or have a rush request.

Continue to follow signage to navigate the building and pay close attention to areas with construction signs. Do not enter any area that is closed for construction!

Study space will be extremely scarce, but the Reference area will be reopening to allow for more space on the west side of the 2nd floor. Computers will not be returned until later, but the area will be usable as study space in the interim.
