Meet our new faculty members!
The Nistler College of Business and Public Administration is excited to welcome three new faculty members to campus! The Marketing Department gained Brandon McAlexander and the Accounting Department gained Xiaoli Guo and Robert Pawlewicz. We wanted to profile each professor as a way for students and faculty to get to know them.
Brandon McAlexander, Marketing Professor, grew up in Corvallis, Oregon. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Political Science and Economics from the University of Oregon. Throughout his time in undergrad, McAlexander worked for Senator Jeff Merkley’s field office in Eugene, OR. After completing his undergrad, he worked at Pentagon Federal Credit Union and Oregon Credit Union. McAlexander then went back to school to earn his PhD in Marketing from the University of Arkansas. He is currently working on a research project with his friend Anastasia that allows them to travel to Iceland to learn more about the social impacts of their tourism boom!
Robert Pawlewicz, Accounting Professor, grew up in Reading, Pennsylvania. Pawlewicz earned his Bachelor of Arts in Business with a focus in Accounting at Franklin & Marshall College. He began working as an intern at Ernst and Young LLP prior to his senior year at F&M. He then continued his career at EY after graduation. After a few years of working, Pawlewicz went back to school to pursue a PhD at the City University of New York. Upon graduation, he worked at Stevens Institute of Technology. While working on his PhD, he also earned his MBA from Baruch College and taught as an adjunct at Stevens Institute of Technology. After completing his PhD, Pawlewicz went to work for George Mason University. His wife, Diana D’Amico Pawlewicz, also joined UND as a new faculty member with the College of Education and Human Development this Fall.
Xiaoli Guo was raised in the Central part of China close to the Yangtze River. Guo earned both her Bachelor of Management with a concentration in Accounting and Master of Accountancy in China. She also spent time gaining auditing experience at a public accounting firm in China. Later she made her way to the U.S. to pursue a Master of Economics at the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee. After completing her degree she moved to Minnesota where she worked towards a PhD of Business Administration in the Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities. Guo says, “I love doing many things when I’m not working, like fishing, boxing, reading, gardening and yoga.”
