Your student may qualify for additional financial aid

The 2022-23 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) uses 2020 tax information to help determine your student’s eligibility for financial aid. Whether they’ve completed the FAFSA already or aren’t sure about completing it for the upcoming academic year, we want you to be aware of available options.

Like so many others throughout the pandemic, your family may have experienced financial hardship, and the FAFSA may not accurately represent your student’s current situation. They may be eligible for an adjusted Expected Family Contribution after completing a Special Circumstance Appeal. An adjustment to the EFC may result in new eligibility for federal aid programs, such as additional unsubsidized loans or federal grants.

The first step in determining the amount of financial assistance they may be eligible to receive is completing the FAFSA for the 2022-23 academic year at studentaid.gov. Then, visit the One-Stop Student Services website for more information on completing a Special Circumstance Appeal.

Please contact One-Stop at 701.777.1234 or onestop@UND.edu for assistance or questions regarding educational finances.
