Medical students recognize six faculty for Outstanding Block Instructor Awards

First- and second-year medical students, the medical classes of 2021 and 2022, have recognized six SMHS faculty for Outstanding Block Instructor Awards for medical curriculum blocks two and six in academic year 2018-2019.

The Class of 2021 (Year 2) Block VI awardees are the following individuals:

• Rhome Hughes, MD, MS, Assistant Professor, SMHS Department of Pathology
• Walter Kemp, MD, PhD, Associate Professor, SMHS Department of Pathology
• Mevan Wijetunga, MD, Clinical Faculty (Altru Health System)

The Class of 2022 (Year 1) Block II awardees are the following individuals:

• Jim Haselton, PhD, Assistant Professor, SMHS Department of Biomedical Sciences
• Benjamin Noonan, MD, Clinical Faculty (Sanford Health)
• Rodrigo Rios, MD, Clinical Faculty (Children’s Heart Clinic)
