Medical student presents at American Academy of Forensic Sciences

Fourth-year medical student Mitch Messner gave a platform presentation at the American Academy of Forensic Sciences 2019 annual meeting, held in Baltimore, Md., from Feb. 18-23. Messner presented “A comparison of coronary artery stenosis estimates made by forensic pathologists and medical students.” For his presentation, Messner won the Forensic Biologist Trainee award, and his corresponding manuscript has been accepted for publication by the Journal of Forensic Sciences, pending revisions. Messner worked with Dr. Walter Kemp (Department of Pathology) and Dr. Sarah Meyers (Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s office) on the research project.
