Mary Aaland wins COPIC Medical Foundation’s North Dakota Humanitarian Award

Dr. Mary Aaland, director of rural surgery and of clinical research for the UND School of Medicine & Health Sciences, has won the COPIC Medical Foundation’s 2019 North Dakota Humanitarian Award in honor of Harold E. Williamson. This award recognizes volunteer medical services and contributions to the community by North Dakota physicians.

Nominated by Dr. Robert Sticca, Dr. Aaland is the first North Dakota physician to win this award.

The COPIC Medical Foundation will provide a grant for $10,000 to the health-related 501(c)(3) organization of Dr. Aaland’s choice.

“Your outstanding support and dedication to the North Dakota health care community has touched many,” wrote Meredith Hintze of the COPIC Medical Foundation in her announcement letter to Dr. Aaland. “Your tremendous contributions benefit us all.”
