Chani Taggart to give Surgery Grand Rounds on surgical mesh for ventral abdominal wall hernia Sept. 20

Chani Taggart, DO, a PGY-III resident in the UND Department of Surgery, will present a talk entitled “Principles of Surgical Mesh for the Ventral Abdominal Wall Hernia” at Altru Health System in Grand Forks, N.D., from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 20. All are welcome to attend.

The objectives of Dr. Taggert’s talk are:

  • Understand the basic pathophysiology behind abdominal wall hernias as well as the history of surgical repair
  • Be able to iterate the different classes of mesh and the pros and cons of each
  • Be knowledgeable about current recommendations for the use of mesh in ventral abdominal hernia repair
  • Understand the various complications associated with use of mesh in ventral abdominal hernia repair
