Abby Fredrickson to give Psychiatry Grand Rounds on kratom on Aug. 5
Abby Fredrickson, M.D., will present “Kratom: The new legal high?” from 12:10 p.m. to 1:10 p.m. on Wednesday, August 5, 2020. This presentation will be held via Zoom/Video Conferencing. Dr. Fredrickson is a Third-Year Resident in the SMHS Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Science. James L. Roerig, Pharm.D., BCPP, professor and psychiatry clerkship director in the SMHS Psychiatry Residency Training Program, will service as Dr. Fredrickson’s discussant.
Upon completion of this program, the learner will be able to:
- Describe mechanisms of how kratom effects different neurotransmitter systems
- List common side effects from use of kratom
- Describe potential sequela of long term kratom use
