Chani Taggart to give Surgery Grand Rounds talk on laparoscopic cholecystectomy Sept. 11
Chani Taggart, D.O., a PG-IV resident in the UND Department of Surgery, will present a talk entitled “The Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy: Strides toward preventing common bile duct injuries” at the SMHS Northwest Campus in Minot, N.D., from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 11, 2020. Everyone is welcome to attend.
The objectives of the talk are to:
- Describe the general anatomy of the biliary system and common variants
- Explain the history behind the development of the laparoscopic cholecystectomy and how it has progressed
- Appreciate the incidence and morbidity/mortality associated with common bile duct injuries
- Review safe practice and recommendations for completion of laparoscopic cholecystectomy
