Chani Taggart to give Surgery Grand Rounds talk on laparoscopic cholecystectomy Sept. 11

Chani Taggart, D.O., a PG-IV resident in the UND Department of Surgery, will present a talk entitled “The Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy: Strides toward preventing common bile duct injuries” at the SMHS Northwest Campus in Minot, N.D., from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 11, 2020. Everyone is welcome to attend.

The objectives of the talk are to:

  1. Describe the general anatomy of the biliary system and common variants
  2. Explain the history behind the development of the laparoscopic cholecystectomy and how it has progressed
  3. Appreciate the incidence and morbidity/mortality associated with common bile duct injuries
  4. Review safe practice and recommendations for completion of laparoscopic cholecystectomy
