News from the University of North Dakota School of Medicine & Health Sciences

Sandi Bates

Sandi L. Bates is the new Southwest Clinical Campus Librarian, serving the third- and fourth-year medical students, residents, clinical faculty, and community faculty in Bismarck. She holds a Master of Arts degree in library and information science from the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee and a Bachelor of Arts degree in speech and communication from North Dakota State University.

If Sandi’s face looks familiar to you, it is because she is returning to the SMHS after working for Bismarck State College the past eight years. From 2010 to 2013 she served as Head of Reference and User Education and Northwest Clinical Campus Librarian for the SMHS. Her love of pheasant hunting and her best buddy German Shorthaired Pointer, Abraham Lincoln, brought her out to Bismarck, and it is great to be able to live somewhere she loves and work again in such an interesting position.

“I am thrilled to be back in a medical librarian position,” Sandi said. “All of the research and intellectual stimulation are so exciting. I look forward to reconnecting with those I know and meeting all the new School of Medicine and Health Sciences people.”
