Alessandra Spagnolia to give Surgery Grand Rounds talk on surgeon suicide Feb. 19

Alessandra Spagnolia, M.D., a PGY-II resident in the UND Department of Surgery, will present a talk entitled “Surgeon Suicide” at Sanford Medical Center MEC Room 140 in Fargo, N.D., from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 19, 2021. All are welcome to attend.

The objectives of Dr. Spagnolia’s talk are:

  1. Recall a few physician suicide statistics.
  2. Identify risk factors for depression and physician suicide.
  3. Describe difficulties surgeons face in dealing with/managing depression and thoughts of suicide.
  4. List sources of help and support available to physicians/surgeons.

This Surgery Grand Rounds Conference, sponsored by the UND School of Medicine & Health Sciences Department of Surgery, is broadcast via video conference to many sites in North Dakota and Minnesota.
