Dwayne Hansen to give Surgery Grand Rounds on Nissen Fundoplication Oct. 1
Dwayne Hansen, D.O., a fifth-year resident in the UND Department of Surgery, will present a talk entitled “History and Update on Nissen Fundoplication: To wrap or not to wrap” at Sanford Medical Center – Broadway in Fargo, N.D., from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 1, 2021. All are welcome to attend.
The objectives of Dr. Hansen’s talk are:
- Describe the history of Nissen fundoplication leading to current therapies and understanding
- Explain surgical methods utilized by earlier surgeons to treat acid reflux and how these have influenced current surgical techniques
- Comment on current research and trends in the use of Nissen fundoplication today
- Evaluate where the field may head into the future
