Dwayne Hansen to give Surgery Grand Rounds on Nissen Fundoplication Oct. 1

Dwayne Hansen, D.O., a fifth-year resident in the UND Department of Surgery, will present a talk entitled “History and Update on Nissen Fundoplication: To wrap or not to wrap” at Sanford Medical Center – Broadway in Fargo, N.D., from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 1, 2021. All are welcome to attend.

The objectives of Dr. Hansen’s talk are:

  • Describe the history of Nissen fundoplication leading to current therapies and understanding
  • Explain surgical methods utilized by earlier surgeons to treat acid reflux and how these have influenced current surgical techniques
  • Comment on current research and trends in the use of Nissen fundoplication today
  • Evaluate where the field may head into the future

The University of North Dakota School of Medicine & Health Sciences is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians. This Surgery Grand Rounds Conference, sponsored by the UND School of Medicine & Health Sciences Department of Surgery, is broadcast via video conference to many sites in North Dakota and Minnesota.
