17th Annual American Indian Health Research Conference

On October 19, 2019, UND hosted the 17th Annual American Indian Health Research Conference titled, “Indigenous Health, Research, and Resiliency.” Thanks to the gracious funders and sponsors (Minnesota Department of Human Services, Center for Rural Health, Indians into Medicine, INBRE Program, DaCCoTA Program), in addition to the hard work of Maylynn Warne, participants were able to hear from UND’s Indigenous health faculty on topics ranging from planetary health to Indigenous resilience.

As part of this event, the Dr. Alan J. Allery Health Research Award presentation saw three deserving recipients receive acknowledgment for their great work in research. Allery Research Award winners were Ryan Toledo, Marlinda Haudley, Andrea Kelsch.

Maylynn Warne provided updates from the National Elder’s Justice Initiatives (NEJI), MPH. Collette Adamsen, PhD, MPA, provided updates on National Resource Center on Native American Aging (NRCNAA) projects. Both programs are housed at the UND Center for Rural Health.

With another year down, we look forward to the 18th annual conference next year!
