Thesis Proposal by Ray Sanders on November 19th

Space Studies master’s student, Ray Sanders, will give his thesis proposal presentation as follows.  All Space Studies students, faculty and staff are encouraged to attend.

When:  Thursday, November 19th at 4:00 pm (Central)

Where:  Ryan Hall, room 111

Title: Photometric Analysis and Computer Modeling of Contact Binary Systems

About the presenter:  While working on his undergraduate degree at ASU, Ray performed research on variable stars, (IBVS 6030, IBVS 6054), attended educational workshops, and received his BS in Earth and Space Exploration in 2013. Since starting at UND he has continued to fuel his passion for astronomy, working briefly for the notable Catalina Sky Survey in Tucson and discovering the largest PHA of 2014 (2014 LJ21). Given his twenty year career in Information Technology, and passion for astronomy, a graduate thesis project to build models of contact binary systems was an obvious choice.
