Dr. Seelan returns from sabbatical leave on January 1st

Prof. Santhosh Seelan returned from his sabbatical leave in Suva, Fiji, after spending the fall 2015 semester there. During this time he was a Developmental Researcher at the South Pacific Community Geosciences Division (SPCGSD). The SPCGSD is funded by the island nations in the region and several nations around the world such as US, Canada, UK, European Union, Australia, Japan and New Zealand. During his sabbatical he interacted with researchers in SPCGSD and examined several research ideas. The atoll nation of Tuvalu was chosen for further study due to its vulnerability to potential climate change impacts. He also visited Tuvalu during his sabbatical. A Ph. D. level research project is being developed as a result of this work in collaboration with Dr. Xiaodong Zhang of the ESSP Department.
