The buoy was retrieved from Devils Lake for winter storage

To monitor water quality in Devils Lake, a buoy has been deployed since 2011 measuring several water parameters (temperature, dissolved oxygen, chlorophyll concentration, turbidity) and meteorological parameters (temerature, pressure, winds). The buoy is launched after the lake is unfrozen and retrieved before the winter, taking measurements for approximately 6 months every year.
