North Dakota Administrative Code (NDAC)

In our last post we talked about the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR), which is the codification of all federal agency rules. States also have agencies within the executive branch and publications comparable to the CFR. In North Dakota, that publication is known as the North Dakota Administrative Code (NDAC). First published in 1978, the NDAC contains all the regulations of the roughly 132 state agencies and is updated quarterly.

The NDAC is no longer published in print, but on CD-ROM and the internet . The UND Law Library prints out a copy yearly and endeavors to archive them for posterity.

The NDAC is also available on Westlaw, Lexis, Bloomberg Law, Fastcase and Casemaker.

Also of note to those learning about administrative law in North Dakota is the Administrative Agencies Practice Act, the chapter of the NDCC that governs rulemaking and enforcement.
