North Central Judicial District Court Judge, Gary Lee ’80, announces he will run again

Central District Court and UND School of Law alumnus, Judge Gary H. Lee, announced this week that he will run again for a fourth six-year term

Judge Lee, a Minot native, was first elected as District Judge in 2004, and was re-elected in 2010, and 2016. He has served as the Presiding District Judge for the North Central Judicial District since July 2014. According to Lee, as District Judge he has presided over more than 150 jury trials, as well as numerous other court proceedings. He has served as a Surrogate Judge on the North Dakota Supreme Court in more than 30 cases. Judge Lee is also a member of the North Dakota Supreme Court committee on jury standards, and serves on the Supreme Court Administrative Council.

“I am honored that the people of this Judicial District have placed their confidence in me, and have three times elected me as their Judge. I look forward to continuing to serve as their Judge, and I ask for their continued support,” said Lee in information provided to The Minot Daily News.

Prior to his election, Lee was in private practice in Minot for nearly 25 years. He also worked as an Assistant Attorney General. He is a graduate of the University of North Dakota, and the University of North Dakota School of Law. Lee is 66 years old. He is married to Margaret Lee. They have one son.

The North Central Judicial District consists of Burke, Mountrail, and Ward counties.
