Community invited to celebrate Indigenous Peoples’ Day at UND

Drum performance, presentation by Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa member Dan Henry and tradition meal all planned

Come on out to UND’s Memorial Union today (Oct. 11) — Indigenous Peoples’ Day — from 11 a.m.- 1 p.m., and learn about the significance of the drum in Indigenous Culture while we honor and respect Indigenous People. UND photo.

Join the University of North Dakota’s Student Diversity & Inclusion group in celebrating Indigenous Peoples’ Day TODAY (Oct. 11) from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m., in Room 245 of the new Memorial Union on campus.

The day’s events will include a performance by the Northern Lights Drum Group and a presentation by Dan Henry of the Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa. Come on out and learn about the significance of the drum in Indigenous culture while we honor and respect Indigenous People.

Then gather after to enjoy a traditional meal of buffalo stew, wild rice, bannock and wojapi.
