The University of North Dakota will hold an Eye of the Hawk Lecture on TODAY, Oct. 12, 4-5:30 p.m. at the North Dakota Museum of Art.

“The Agile College: Navigating Demographic Change,” will be presented by Nathan Grawe, the Ada M. Harrison Distinguished Teaching Professor of the Social Sciences and Professor of Economics at Carleton College, Northfield, Minn.

Nathan Grawe

The talk is hosted by the Nistler College of Business & Public Administration. Last year, the Task Force on the Future of Education at UND read the article The Future of College Looks Like the Future of Retail, an article by Grawe which was published in The Atlantic as well as chapters from his book, The Agile College.

Dr. Grawe is a labor economist whose work examines intergenerational connections in education and labor market outcomes. His book, Demographics and The Demand for Higher Education (Johns Hopkins University Press, 2018), examines how recent demographic shifts are likely to affect demand for higher education. In his most recent project, The Agile College (Johns Hopkins University Press, 2021), Grawe draws on interviews with higher education leaders to both update projected demand for college enrollment and discuss strategies that colleges are using to adapt.

UND’s Eye of the Hawk lecture series was developed as a way to bring the UND community together to discuss important topics with preeminent experts. All events are open to UND faculty, staff, students and community members.

The lecture is sponsored by BankNorth.
