Tami Carmichael (Humanities & Integrated Studies) and Ryan Zerr (Mathematics), will present research conducted as part of a recent initiative of the Associate of American Colleges & Universities (AAC&U) at 4:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 10, in the East Asia room, Chester Fritz Library.
“STIRS (Scientific Thinking and Integrative Reasoning Skills)” seeks to improve the capacity of undergraduates in all fields of study to use evidence to solve problems and make decisions. Carmichael and Zerr were selected as STIRS Scholars and have separately developed case studies in support of this national AAC&U initiative. Dr. Carmichael’s case allows students to consider the impact of oil transmission from economic, environmental, and social perspectives. Dr. Zerr’s case examines the idea of fairness, touching on history, politics, and just a very small bit of mathematics.
All are welcome.
