American Indian Health Research ConferenceThe 14th Annual American Indian Health Research Conference (AIHRC) takes place October 20, 2016 at the Alerus Center in Grand Forks. The conference offers opportunities to discuss research directions, partnerships and collaboration in health research focusing on American Indians. The keynote speaker is Dr. Michael J. Yellow Bird, director of the Tribal Indigenous Studies program at North Dakota State University. Dr. Yellow Bird is a citizen of the Mandan, Hidatsa, and Arikara (MHA) Nation.

Numerous posters and exhibits will be on display at the conference along with sessions focusing on health risk and health promotion among Native American communities. There is no registration fee for this conference. Read more

Allery Health Research Award.  This prestigious award is presented to two ambitious American Indian students, one graduate and one undergraduate, in recognition of conducting research dedicated to improving the health and wellbeing of Native Americans throughout the country. The 13th Annual American Indian Health Research Conference (AIHRC) takes place October 23, 2015 at the Alerus Center in Grand Forks. The conference offers opportunities to discuss research directions, partnerships and collaboration in health research focusing on American Indians.  The keynote speaker is Dr. Dorothy A. Rhoades, faculty member at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center in the Internal Medicine department.  Dr. Rhoades is also the director of the American Indian Cancer Research Initiatives for the Peggy and Charles Stephenson Cancer Center. The annual American Indian Health Research Conference provides a daylong event with national speakers, researchers, students, and community members. This is an opportunity to learn about how to do research with American Indian communities, what research needs to be done in American Indian communities, for students to present their research with American Indians, and opportunities to partner between communities, tribal colleges, and researchers.
