A Message from Dining Services

DiningUpdates_300x170

Students,

As you may have heard, UND Dining Services will implement two major changes after this semester. University Place Stomping Grounds will close and consolidate its services with Wilkerson Stomping Grounds, and Terrace Dining Center in the Memorial Union will close effective May 11, 2017.

In these difficult budget situations, everybody across campus is having to make tough decisions, and Dining Services is no different. As we made these decisions, it was our top priority to keep student costs as low as possible while still providing excellent dining services across campus.

The closing of Terrace is based on low participation numbers compared to the other dining centers. The flooding that Terrace endured during the first six weeks of the semester caused students to utilize other dining options on campus. Even after Terrace reopened, the numbers never bounced back as high as they were before the flood. Unfortunately, the volume of traffic is not large enough to sustain keeping this location open.

To accommodate this change, Squires Dining Center will offer expanded lunch hours. Residents of Swanson Hall will get an additional $100 Dining Dollars added to their campus meal plans that may be used in other dining locations across campus, including Old Main Marketplace in the Memorial Union.

University Place Stomping Grounds will close to consolidate with the Wilkerson location. Though these changes are being made, all of the services offered at University Place will still be available at the new location. This includes the Dakota Deli made-to-order sandwiches and some of the grocery items sold in University Place convenience store. The Wilkerson Stomping Grounds will expand its to 7:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. We will continue to include $200 in Dining Dollars to University Place residents as part of their regular housing agreements.

We made these choices in order to make UND Dining Services better for the future. Making these changes will allow us to keep our costs low, which in turn, will keep your dining costs down.
