Undergraduate learning group invites campus community to lunch and conversation

Please join the members of the Undergraduate Learning Working Group (ULWG) for lunch and “A Campus Conversation with the ULWG” at noon Monday, Nov. 8, in the Memorial Union Red River Valley Room. ULWG is a cross section of faculty and others charged by Provost LeBel to consider how best to enrich the undergraduate academic experience at UND. The event is an important opportunity to provide your direct input to the group.

An update on the ULWG’s efforts after a year of collaboration will begin at 12:30 p.m. Provost LeBel’s will introduce the new associate provost for Undergraduate Education, Steve Light, at 1 p.m. Light will share his thoughts on how UND can continue to build on its abundant strengths as well as national best practices to lead the way in providing a top-tier undergraduate experience.

After a brief break, the conversation will conclude with an hour-long opportunity for those in attendance to provide meaningful input about the initiatives being planned, to suggest new ideas they feel might have been overlooked, and to help answer important questions to guide the ULWG’s ongoing work.

RSVPs for lunch must be received by Oct. 29, and can be made by going to the OID web site at www.oid.und.edu (look for the “Events” section in the middle of the page).

Although the conversation will last two and a half hours, please feel free to attend only those parts that fit your schedule. The final part, from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m., will be structured to allow for people to leave or enter during a brief break between 1:50 and 2 p.m. Your input is needed and your participation is important.

Questions can be directed to either of the ULWG co-chairs: Brett Goodwin, Biology (777-2757 or brett.goodwin@und.edu) or Ryan Zerr, Mathematics (777-4605 or ryan.zerr@und.edu).
