Oct. 27-28: Red River Women’s Studies Conference focuses on bodies, spaces, and powers

Please join us Oct. 27-28 to hear lectures and presentations on the theme, “Bodies, Spaces, and Powers,” hosted by UND’s Women and Gender Studies Program and the College of Arts and Sciences.

  • Thursday, Oct. 27 at 4 p.m.: Keynote lecture by Danya Qato, Assistant Professor, University of Maryland-Baltimore, Department of Pharmaceutical Health Services, “At the Margins: Women’s Health Under Occupation.” Gransberg Room, Gorecki Alumni Center. Reception to follow.
  • Friday, Oct. 28 at 1 p.m.: Keynote lecture by Ladelle McWhorter, Stephanie Bennett Smith Chair in Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies, University of Richmond, “In Perpetual Disintegration: A Foucault-Inflected Look at How Machine-Bodies Became Normalized Bodies.” Lecture Bowl, Memorial Union. Reception to follow.
  • Friday, all day: panels and presentations by students and faculty from around the region on the second floor of the Memorial Union.
