UND ranks in top 5 for online master’s in early childhood education

The UND online Master’s in Early Childhood Education recently was ranked No. 3 in the nation by the Center for Online Education for 2016.

The 32-credit degree program is 100 percent online and offers in-state tuition regardless of residency.

“This ranking highlights our high-quality programs and faculty,” said Kristen Votava, graduate director of the Early Childhood Education program. “It is a wonderful way for future students to find out about our Early Childhood Education program, and it demonstrates the excellent degree opportunities we have right here at the University of North Dakota.”

The Center for Online Education uses a ranking method that considers academic quality, online offerings, cost and student financial aid.

The online degree is available to students from North Dakota, the region and around the world. The degree prepares professional teachers and leaders to address educational needs of young children. The offering was developed for teachers from public and private schools, Head Start programs, child development and childcare centers, and other programs for the education of children. The degree combines theory and research with practical experience.

Graduates are able to enroll in Aim4Excellence modules and work toward a Director’s Credential through a partnership with the McCormick Center for Early Childhood Leadership.

“With more than 50 online degrees and certificates, the University of North Dakota continues to strive for online excellence,” said Lynette Krenelka, director of UND’s Office of Extended Learning. “This is just one of many nationally ranked online programs UND offers.”
