Jan. 31: Teaching Statement Workshop

The next Alice T. Clark Scholars Forum is a workshop on writing or revisiting a teaching statement. It takes place Tuesday, Jan. 31, from 1:30-3:30 p.m. in Swanson 10-12 (Memorial Union). Register here: http://und.edu/academics/instructional-development/scholars-formum-regis-1-2016.cfm (registration closes Friday, Jan. 27).

The teaching statement (a purposeful and reflective essay about the author’s teaching and learning beliefs and practices) is a document used in annual evaluations, tenure and promotion files, and job applications. It is also an effective exercise in helping you clearly and coherently conceptualize your approach to and experience of teaching and learning. Writing a successful teaching statement means concisely and clearly describing the approach and scope of your teaching –a challenging task!

In this workshop, you will work with experienced faculty mentors. You will be guided either to generate ideas for a new teaching statement or to give and receive feedback on an existing document or draft. Bring your laptop or materials and your statement or draft (if you have one – and, if not, we’ll help you get started).
