Jerry Miller, NDUS Data Center Manager, passed away Thursday, Jan. 5, 2017, at his home in Grand Forks at the age of 65.
Jerry was born Nov. 12, 1951, the son of Bill & Dorothy (Kowalski) Miller in Grand Forks. He attended 13 years of Catholic school and graduated from St. James High School in 1969.
As a teen, he started working at Miller’s, his father’s grocery store. He attended college and played football at Santa Clara University in California.
Jerry was employed by Red Lobster in Minneapolis and MCI in Phoenix. He returned to Grand Forks and worked at KCNN before starting employment at UND, advancing to Lead Operator for NDUS at UND’s data center. Jerry was employed at UND/NDUS for 17 years. He was also a realtor with Greenberg Realty.
Jerry was an avid UND and Notre Dame fan. He was interested in reading history and biographies. He also enjoyed cooking and grilling, always trying new recipes. He was known and loved for his optimism, generosity, and incredible sense of humor. Being a Grandpa was his greatest joy.
He is survived by Joanne Bergstedt; children and grandchildren; brother, Robert Miller; sister, Ann Sherwood; nephew, Peter Wogsland; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents.
