Policies: Notification of revision and campus comment

A number of documents have been posted to the Finance and Operations Policy Office website (see New & Revised Policy Updates) for notification of revision and for campus comment.

Procedure Revised

Policies (and some procedures) periodically undergo review and revision. These documents may or may not require endorsement by President’s Cabinet depending on the extent to which revisions are made.

Reduction in Force/Mandatory Furlough Procedure – Posted February 7

At the request of Human Resources, the procedure was revised to:

  1. Change references to Human Resources and Payroll Services to Human Resources
  2. Add job code to Definitions
  3. Clarify criteria to review positions affected by RIF or furlough by adding “for all positions banded in the same job code within the department” to Procedures: Reduction in Force: Documentation and Procedures: Mandatory Furlough: Documentation

Policies open to comment may be reviewed and commented on by going directly to the New & Revised Policy Updates website or by clicking the links below. The final policy document will take into consideration feedback received during the campus-wide comment period.

Voluntary Leave Without Pay/Workload Reduction – Significantly Revised; Comments due February 23, 2017

A voluntary leave without pay or workload reduction request may be approved for purposes of mutual benefit to the institution and the employee.

This policy is being revised. Due to the nature of the revisions, it is required to go through the standard campus-wide review process. At the request of Human Resources, the policy was revised to:

  1. Change name of policy to Voluntary Leave Without Pay/Workload Reduction
  2. Edit policy statement to include voluntary leave without pay and workload reduction
  3. Add eligible employee and workload reduction to Definitions
  4. Expand content and revise section Principles: Overview
  5. Expand content and name section Principles: Eligibility Criteria and Limitations
  6. Add Principles: Compensation and Benefits
  7. Expand content and revise section Procedures: Review/Approval of Leave Without Pay/Workload Reduction Request
  8. Expand content and revise section Procedures: Ending Temporary Leave Without Pay/Workload Reduction Status

Interim Space Management – New/Interim: Signed September 13, 2016; Comments due February 13, 2017

The University of North Dakota (UND), and not any group, individual, or unit within it, owns and/or controls all interior and exterior spaces on campus as well as additional properties off-campus including leased properties. The effective utilization of physical space is essential to the success of the University. Space, as a university-owned asset, is subject to assignment, periodic evaluation, and re-assignment in order to meet the overall needs and best interests of the institution.
