Petroleum Engineering offers short courses in joint ventures, petrology and geochemistry

The Department of Petroleum Engineering has several two-day short courses available and open for registration.  The courses will be held on campus in the Collaborative Energy Complex. Discounted rates are available for UND students.

  • Fundamentals of International Joint Ventures, Contract Drafting & Negotiation, May 8-9, with instructor Dr. Emeka Duruigbo
    This course is designed to equip lawyers, professionals in the petroleum industry, managers, executives and government advisors with vital knowledge in implementing successful joint ventures and partnerships in the oil and gas industry.  It also provides insight on the basic knowledge for drafting and negotiating contracts in the industry. Participants will learn essential information that will guide them in navigating through the various important stages of joint ventures, drafting and negotiating contracts for harmonious partnership and optimization of goals.
  • Organic Petrology and Geochemistry, April 20-21, with instructor Dr. Thomas Gentzis
    Subject matter will include introductions to the portions of both Organic Petrology and Geochemistry relevant to the screening of formations, plays and basins in the exploration for producible hydrocarbons. Simple exercises will also be provided.
