Important notification regarding cell phone policy

Recent policy changes regarding cell phones and mobile devices has led to some reoccurring questions from the campus community. To better clarify the process, please follow these steps:

  1. Employees must meet new requirements to be eligible to receive a university-owned device or technology allowance. Departments are responsible for ensuring employees meet these requirements at the time an authorization form is submitted and throughout an employee’s use of a university-owned device or receipt of a technology allowance.
  1. Departments are responsible for ensuring employees utilizing a university-owned device or receiving a technology allowance read and adhere to the terms and conditions outlined in the cell phone and other mobile devices policy.
  1. Departments must complete an authorization form for every employee utilizing a university-owned device or receiving a technology allowance. Departments must also complete an additional/reduce pay request form for employees receiving a technology allowance. Submit these forms to the chief information officer, Stop 8176.
  1. Departments must complete a tracking form identifying its employees with a university-owned device or technology allowance. Submit this form to the chief information officer, Stop 8176.

Note: To make processing authorizations simpler in 2018, departments renewing university-owned devices or technology allowances will need to complete the tracking and additional/reduce pay request forms only. However, any new employee, or newly requested university-owned device or allowance will require completion of the authorization form as well.

Although minor, other process changes will likely come over the next few months as we finalize implementation and update the policy document accordingly. Thank you for your patience as we work through these new changes together.
