Website, events and endpoint security software policies open for comment

A number of documents have been posted to the Finance and Operations Policy Office website (see New & Revised Policy Updates) for campus comment.

Policies open to comment may be reviewed and commented on by going directly to the New & Revised Policy Updates website or by clicking the links below. The final policy document will take into consideration feedback received during the campus-wide comment period.

University Website – Revised; Comments due August 30, 2017

Note: This policy was approved as an interim document in December 2013. Since that time, all comments have been reviewed and adjustments made. This is the last comment period that will be made available for this document. Additional policy revisions may be made based on feedback received.

UND resources, including its website, must be used in accordance with state laws, State Board of Higher Education (SBHE) policies, and North Dakota University System (NDUS) procedures; and must be sustained in a manner that maintains UND’s brand, identity guidelines and quality control, manages risk, optimizes usability, and provides consistency. This policy further defines the terms and conditions for all websites utilizing UND resources.

Events, Demonstrations, Fixed Exhibits, and Short-Term Rentals – Revised; Comments due September 8, 2017

Note: This policy was approved as an interim document on July 25. This will allow for testing of processes as outlined in the document, complete campus feedback, and additional policy revision as necessary based on implementation and comments.

This policy defines the University’s forums for exercising the rights of free speech and peaceful assembly, and to advise campus constituents regarding the exercise of those rights. This policy establishes certain standards of conduct that must be observed by demonstrators and groups while availing themselves of the use of University property for exercising the rights of free speech and assembly. This policy applies to all individuals while on University property.

This policy is created in accordance with the First Amendment to the Constitution of the United States and North Dakota State Board of Higher Education (SBHE) Policy 909.

Endpoint Security Software – New; Comments due September 8, 2017

Note: This policy was approved as an interim document on July 25. This will allow the Office of the CIO to address endpoint security software needs prior to the beginning of the fall semester, and will also enable the campus community the ability to participate in the customary campus comment period upon returning to campus in the fall. This will allow for testing of processes as outlined in the document, complete campus feedback, and additional policy revision as necessary based on implementation and comments.

The policy is designed to help prevent compromise of University of North Dakota computers and systems by computer viruses and other malicious software. This policy is intended to help prevent damage and loss to user applications, data, files, and hardware.
