The Greater Grand Forks Community Theatre, now celebrating its 70th season, is holding auditions on Sept. 10 for children, grades 2-12.
Directors are casting two shows: Free to Be, You and Me for grades 2-5 and Disney’s High School Musical, Jr. for grades 6-12.
Free to Be, directed by Jana Reese, will audition at 2 p.m. H.S. Musical, directed by Amy Driscoll with musical direction by Frank J. Sikich will audition at 4:30 p.m. at the Fire Hall Theatre (412 N 2nd Avenue — behind City Hall and just north of Central High School)
Rehearsals: If cast, rehearsals for Free to Be will take place from 3:30 – 5 p.m. after school four days a week (exact days tbd after directors see which day during the week has the highest conflicts). Rehearsals for HS Musical will take place 5:30-7:30 p.m. four days a week (exact days tbd).
Show dates are Nov. 3-5, and 10-12 at the Fire Hall Theatre. The week before show dates is critical to the rehearsal process and actors cannot be excused.
Audition process: Children will be asked to sing a verse of a musical theatre song, or simply “Happy Birthday.” They will not be an accompanist present.
*Please inform your child that directors are only able to accept 25 children for Free to Be, and 30 children for H.S. Musical.
**There is an activity fee of $55, which covers t-shirts, cast party, and scripts. Any family unable to pay the fee is welcome to do a volunteer trade for it. Please inquire: firstname.lastname@example.org .
