Sept. 24: Grand Forks Symphony presents ‘America the Beautiful’

The Greater Grand Forks Symphony will hold their fall concert, “America the Beautiful,” at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 24, at the Empire Arts Center.

Providing concerts to the Greater Grand Forks area for 110 years, the Symphony community will embark on a yearlong journey through dazzling symphonic landscapes that cross four continents.  We’ll kick off our travels with a musical celebration of America the Beautiful.

America the Beautiful begins with the Star Spangled Banner and continues with four dance episodes from “Rodeo” by Aaron Copland. From the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, soloist Ilan Morgenstern will perform Chris Bruebeck’s Concerto for Bass Trombone and Orchestra. The concert concludes with Symphony No. 2 in D-flat Major, Opus 30, W45, “Romantic” by Howard Hanson.

Tickets available through The Empire Arts Center, ggfso.org, 701.746.5500, and at the door.

General admission tickets are $25, military/students $15. Empire service fees apply.

Free admission to the pre-concert music story telling with Maestro Alejandro Drago starting at 1:30 p.m.
