We are pleased to announce that Olaf Kuhlke, associate dean, College of Liberal Arts at the University of Minnesota Duluth, will come to campus for a talk on “Creating Cultural Capital:  Fostering entrepreneurship in the creative and cultural industries.”

He will outline the emergence of the creative and cultural industries and portray their economic and social significance for the global, national and local economies. He will show how approaches to cultural entrepreneurship differ from “conventional” and “social” entrepreneurship, and can provide a novel approach to thinking about business that begins with the understanding of a value-based economy. In addition, he will show how educating future entrepreneurs can be achieved in collaborative, interdisciplinary programming that goes beyond traditional business school education, using the example of the B.A. program in Cultural Entrepreneurship at the University of Minnesota Duluth.

You are invited to attend the talk on Friday, Nov. 3, from 1 to 2 p.m. the Center for Innovation Idea Lab.  Feel free to come back for an open discussion from 4 to 5 p.m.
