Oct. 10: UND Bands Concert

The University of North Dakota Wind Ensemble and University Band, conducted by James Popejoy, will present a concert on Tuesday, Oct. 10, 8 p.m. at the Chester Fritz Auditorium.

The University Band will open the concert with Dennis Eveland’s “Fanfare for a New Generation” and a transcription of Rossini’s “Semiramide Overture.” Also on their program will be the classic “National Emblem” march by E.E. Bagley, and a contemporary suite by Brian Balmages, “Elements.” Concluding their portion of the concert will be John Mackey’s “Undertow.”

The Wind Ensemble will open their portion of the program with the exciting “Commando March” by Samuel Barber, and continue with the cornerstone work for modern concert band repertoire, Gustav Holst’s “First Suite in Eb.” Rounding out their program will be “Concord” by Clare Grundman, Malcolm Arnold’s “English Dances,” and the programmatic “Firefly” by Ryan George.

Tickets, available at the door, are $7 for adults, $3 for students and senior citizens, or $14 per family.
