Volunteer opportunities available at Fire Hall Theatre

We are the Greater Grand Forks Community Theatre, now celebrating its 70th season.  We would not still be here if it weren’t for amazing volunteers who make our little theatre the award winning theatre it is.

If you are new to the community, or simply seeking a way to get more involved in Grand Forks, we are seeking volunteers to fill various positions.

Also, we are always looking for teams of people to help with our massive costume and equipment/lumber shop.  If you are part of a group that’s seeking a volunteer opportunity, give us a holler at info@ggfct.com.

Seeking volunteers for the following positions:

Information management:  1-? hours a week uploading archival materials and important data to the Cloud.

Volunteer business/merchandising intern:  The Fire Hall Theatre prop and costume collection contains many one-of-a-kind items that are simply gathering dust.  Seeking creative, entrepreneur  to photograph and list items on eBay for sale to earn additional income for our nonprofit. Initially, you will need to come to theatre to take photos, but then it can be managed from home while still accruing volunteer hours.  1-? a week.

Social media intern –– Seeking someone who enjoys making and editing 2-3 minute videos to upload on social media sites, as well as creating content for such sites. 1-2 hours a week, can be done at home.

Archivist:  We have years of material that needs to be digitized into an electronic scrapbook.  Some of these materials have already been deposited in the Chester Fritz Special Collections, but there are more materials continually collecting at the Fire Hall. Seeking someone who values community history and would like to help preserve a piece of it.

Pre-school Drama – Assistant to the Director, Rita Coleman.  Saturdays from 9:15 – 10:45 at the Fire Hall Theatre.  Help Director with up to 14 pre-schoolers as they create a play based on a classic children’s story. 6 weeks commitment, beginning Oct. 7.

STARS – Assistant to the Director, Amanda Braxton.  Saturdays from 1:15 – 3:45.  Assist director with helping children 7-19 who have special needs as they play theatre games and create a showcase for parents and family.  6 week commitment, begins Oct. 7

Set builders – Periodically, we need people to help build sets, or do small repairs around the theater.  If you are interested, please email us and we can discuss upcoming projects.

Set painters – Hours are usually evening or weekends and dates are typically two weeks before a show opens.

Ushers –  If you ‘d like to see a show for free, all you need to do is usher: hand out programs, help patrons find seats, perhaps run a quick vacuum before the house is open, make coffee.  We have 6 more productions this season (The Charitable Sisterhood. . . closes Sept. 30th; H.S. Musical & Free to Be, You and Me runs Nov. 3-5 & 10-12; A Christmas Carol, Dec. 7-10; Over the River, and Through the Woods, Feb. 1-17; And Then There Were None, Mar. 15-31; and Fiddler on the Roof,  May 11-20 at the Masonic Lodge.  If you’d like us to add you to our ushering list, please send an email to info@ggfct.com .  We will alert you when ushering opportunities arise.
