Nov. 30: UND University Band & Woodwind Ensembles holiday concert

The UND Band and Woodwind Ensembles will present “Sounds of the Season! A Holiday Concert” on Thursday, Nov. 30, at 8 p.m. in the Memorial Union Ballroom.

Tickets, available at the door, are $7 for adults, $3 for students and senior citizens, or $14 per family.

The concert will feature the band and ensembles performing unique settings of holiday classics. The Flute Ensemble, Clarinet Choir and Saxophone Quartet, under the direction of Dr. Lisa Bost-Sandberg and Dr. Scott Sandberg, will include arrangements of God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen, White Christmas, and The Nutcracker Suite in their program. Dr. James Popejoy will conduct the University Band performing Greensleeves, Jingle Bells Fantasy, and A Charlie Brown Christmas, among other selections. Undergraduate conductor Brianna Meissner will lead the band in a medley by James Swearingen of familiar tunes entitled Winter Holiday. The two ensembles will combine to close the program with an arrangement of Serge Prokofiev’s Midnight Sleighride, and the classic Sleigh Ride by Leroy Anderson.
