Trumpet Ensemble advances to live round of National Trumpet Competition

The UND Trumpet Ensemble has advanced to the live round of the National Trumpet Competition, held this year from March 7-11 at the University of North Texas.

The National Trumpet Competition is the premier instrumental competition in the United States for collegiate trumpeters, and is attended by only the most elite trumpet programs in the country. This year it includes around 25 of the most accomplished music programs in America, such as Eastman School of Music, Cincinnati Conservatory of Music, Hartt School of Music, University of Kentucky, Florida State University, University of Illinois, University of North Texas, Michigan State University, Baylor University, University of Massachusetts Amherst, and Oklahoma State University.

For UND be included in the company of such outstanding programs is a testament to the quality of our students in the trumpet studio, and puts us on the national stage competing for the “Heisman Trophy of Collegiate Trumpet Playing.” The students who make it to this level move on to outstanding careers in their field, taking the UND name with them.
