April 26: UND University Band and Grand Forks City Band to present ‘Movie Music – A Pops Concert’

The University Band, with special guests, the Greater Grand Forks City Band, will present Movie Music – A “Pops” Concert, on Thursday, April 26, at 8 p.m. in the Memorial Union Ballroom.

Tickets, available at the door, are $7 for adults, $3 for students and senior citizens, or $14 per family.

The concert will feature the ensembles, both individually and together, performing original music written for a variety of American films. Included will be selections written by such noted film composers as Danny Elfman, Michael Giacchino, James Horner, Alan Menken, Alan Silvestri, John Williams, and Hans Zimmer. The University Band will be led by Dr. James Popejoy and undergraduate conductor Yuesen Yang. The City Band, directed by Don Langlie, will feature four guest conductors for this performance: Dave Christianson, Janelle Huber, Jayne Morrison, and Brian Opdahl.
