May 2: Farewell reception for Phoebe Stubblefield

Please join us in wishing Phoebe Stubblefield, Associate Professor of Anthropology, farewell on Wednesday, May 2, from 1 – 3 p.m. in room 260 of Ireland Hall (south wing of O’Kelly Hall).

She began her career in the Department of Anthropology in Fall semester 2003. As a forensic anthropologist she taught many courses in the forensic science program, as well as anthropological courses with a biological or osteological flavor.

She also conducted a one-of-a-kind Forensic Anthropology Field School during the summers, utilizing porcine specimens to give the students invaluable hands-on exposure to field and laboratory methods. During Phoebe’s time with the department, she served over a dozen years as the Director of the Forensic Science Program and also spent time as the chair. She was the advisor for junior and senior forensic science majors and also for the Forensic Science Club. For 10 years she accompanied many of her students to the annual American Academy of Forensic Sciences meeting where the students were able to observe professional collaboration and begin networking in the industry.

Phoebe will soon transition to the University of Florida in Gainesville where she will be the Research Assistant Scientist for the C.A. Pound Human Identification Lab. Her primary duties will involve research and casework while assisting graduate students in their degree progress.

Please stop by for some cake and conversation, and to wish Phoebe well.
