June 14: Book signing with Mollie Douthit

Help celebrate the publication of Mollie Douthit: Paintings on Thursday, June 14, from 4:30 – 6 p.m. at the North Dakota Museum of Art.

Mollie Douthit, a Grand Forks painter, will be signing copies of the 76-page book published by the North Dakota Museum of Art in conjunction with Douthit’s exhibition at the Museum from May 7 – July 30, 2017.

The book, available in the Museum Gift Shop for $18, concludes Douthit’s year as an “Art Maker.” In the spring of 2017, the Museum opened her Art Makers exhibition underwritten by Dr. William Wosick of West Fargo. The Art Makers is a series of exhibitions by regional artists selected by the Museum who are on the edge of a breakthrough in their art. They are often at a juncture in their artistic lives where a “leg up” could invigorate, revitalize, or change the course of their art. Douthit is the fifth artist in the Art Makers series funded by Dr. Wosick.

Douthit was born in Grand Forks and attended the University of North Dakota. She earned a Post Baccalaureate Certificate from Boston’s Museum of Fine Arts, and then a MFA from Burren College of Art, Ballyvaughan, Ireland in 2014. After five years in Ireland, Douthit moved back to Grand Forks, where she continues to live and paint.
