June 21: SIL Colloquium focuses on software for local language communities

The Summer Institute of Languages (SIL) colloquium series presents Elke Karan, who will talk about a software called Bloom.  This is an easy-to-use program designed to help local language communities develop books for their own communities.  These books may be created as graded readers, leveled readers, decodable books, and shell books.  Bloom allows local language communities to write their own materials in non-dominant languages without requiring expertise in literacy.

Where:  Gamble Hall, room 3

When:  Thursday, June 21, 8 p.m.

ASL interpreters are available by request.
