Oct. 31: ‘Transforming Rural Healthcare Through Telemedicine’

As a part of Primary Care Week, we invite all health profession students and faculty to a presentation by UND School of Medicine & Health Sciences alum, Brian Skow, on Wednesday, Oct. 31, from noon – 1 p.m.  There will be a free lunch for the first 100 people, with priority given to students. You are welcome to bring a lunch to this presentation.

Dr. Skow’s presentation, “Transforming Rural Healthcare through Telemedicine,” will share how eCARE is saving rural patients time, money, and lives.

Dr. Skow serves as the chief medical officer and medical director of Avera eCARE Emergency based in Sioux Falls, S.D. Avera eCARE provides telehealth services to more than 400 facilities across 18 states and has impacted over 2 million patients since its inception in 2007. As an Avera Emergency Physician for the past 16 years, Dr. Skow brings a wealth of emergency room experience to the eCARE team.

Dr. Skow attended medical school at the University of North Dakota. He completed his Emergency Medicine Residency at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center in Toledo, Ohio, and is certified by the American Board of Emergency Medicine and a Fellow of the American College of Emergency Physicians. His special interests include telehealth, emergency department management, bedside ultrasound, toxicology and critical care procedures as well as serving as an aeromedical physician for LifeFlight.
