Heather Wages named Academic Affairs Officer

Heather Wages has been named Academic Affairs Officer for the office of Vice President for Academic Affairs.

Wages, who serves as general counsel for UND under the North Dakota Attorney General’s office, will begin her new duties Dec. 3.

Her responsibilities will include serving as a liaison to UND’s general counsel and Human Resources, managing faculty grievances and investigations, policy compliance and review, drafting contracts and agreements for services and requests for proposals, managing the faculty hiring process and employment agreements, and assisting senior academic affairs leadership with risk management and operations strategies.

Wages, who has served as UND general counsel since September 2015, previously worked with the Law Firm of Camrud, Maddock, Olson & Larson in Grand Forks. She earned her law degree from UND and a degree in political science and German from the University of Minnesota. She is a native of Fargo.

“Heather has done a terrific job as a general counsel to UND,” said Tom DiLorenzo, Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs. “I look forward to working with her in this new capacity.”

Wages replaces Shannon Mikula, who accepted a position as special projects counsel with Minnkota Power Cooperative.
