Nov. 9: UND Music presents ‘The American Songbook of Rogers & Hammerstein’ at the Empire

The UND Department of Music is proud to present The American Songbook of Rodgers & Hammerstein, a “Backstage Project” at the historic Empire Arts Center in downtown Grand Forks on Friday, Nov. 9 at 8 p.m.

Audiences will be serenaded by the melodies of Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein, one of the most beloved teams of the American Broadway tradition.

“Last year’s show featuring Irving Berlin sold out. Everyone had such a great time,” said Anne Christopherson, Associate Professor of Voice and director of UND Opera activities, “Not only did the students learn more about the music of their country, they also provided a unique and enjoyable experience to a community that has done so much to support UND Music.”

UND Voice faculty Royce Blackburn and Anne Christopherson will be joined by UND music majors and alumni, with Matt Sebald at the piano. UND Music alumni Ryan King and Jace Erickson will make special appearances as well.

The unique space backstage at the Empire limits seating to 50-55 people.

Cost is $15 for general admission, $10 for seniors and students at the door.
