Jan. 22 UND Art Collections Opening features the Animals of the Collection

The UND Art Collections opening, Fables, Insults, and Reverence: the Animals of UND Art Collections, will be held at the Empire Arts Center, 415 DeMers Ave, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 22.

This exhibition will give viewers the opportunity to enjoy a selection of animal-centric works of art. From the chicken-people of Francisco Goya to the horses of Walter Piehl, a variety of insects, birds, and mammals have come together to tell a tale of how they have each been employed by artists across centuries to illustrate stories, create allegory, and demonstrate their relationships with humankind.

The reception is free and open to the public.

Refreshments will be served and a cash bar will be available. Live music provided by UND student musicians. Gallery talk featuring UND Art Collections Manager and Curator, Sarah Heitkamp, at 5:00 p.m.

Exhibit dates: Jan. 22 – Mar. 31, 2019
