AAC&U faculty professional development opportunity

In spring of 2018, UND partnered with the American Association of Colleges and Universities VALUE Institute as a means of assessing our Essential Studies goals. As part of this process, UND provides specific assignments to AAC&U for external scoring in alignment with their VALUE Rubrics.

If you teach an ES designated course and (or) are interested in learning more about VALUE Rubrics and the scoring process, there is a professional development opportunity to do so. AAC&U has invited UND faculty to register for training to become a VALUE Institute certified scorer. This opportunity will not only provide training on how to score the VALUE Rubrics, but also provide the opportunity to serve as a scorer over the summer and earn up to $375 for your time. This training is not available to the public and is only offered to invited institutions.

Below is some additional information on the VALUE Institute training:

  • Training begins April 15, 2019 and ends June 7, 2019.
  • Training takes approximately 15-30 hours to complete.
  • Training is done via video, asynchronously, online.  You can work at your own pace.
  • You can only train on one rubric per year.
  • If you successfully complete training, you can use the title “VALUE Institute 2019 Certified Scorer” on your CV and I will endorse you for the skill “VALUE Rubric Assessment” on LinkedIn at your request.
  • You can complete training without being interested in 2019 Summer Scoring.
  • If you successfully complete training, you may be invited to do compensated summer scoring.
  • In Summer 2019, compensated scorers will be asked to score between 10 and 50 artifacts online.  Scoring 50 artifacts takes approximately 15 hours.
  • Summer 2019 compensated scoring opens July 15, 2019 and closes August 16, 2019.
  • Compensation for summer scoring is as follows: A) $75 when ten artifacts are scored, B) $150 when twenty artifacts are scored, C) $225 when thirty artifacts are scored, D) $300 when forty artifacts are scored, E) $375 when fifty artifacts are scored, etc.
