Rural Health Grand Challenge team seeks summer research proposals

The University of North Dakota Rural Health and Communities Grand Challenge Team is soliciting applications from faculty to support UND’s research activities, and external funding capacity, to address the unique health and social problems of rural communities. (One UND, Goal 4).

This solicitation supports the advancement of UND’s goal of submissions for funding that address the limitations of access to resources in rural communities to include health care, social supports, and education. It supports the advancement of job and food security in rural communities – including expanding access to education, housing, and transportation supports.

Specifically, the Rural Health and Communities Grand Challenge Committee is encouraging proposals that aim to improve health care outcomes and address social problems, based on fidelity. The need to secure mentorship in proposal preparation is paramount. The intent is to select proposals that display the capacity to develop a proposal for funding that incorporates faculty expertise, based on an inter-professional approach. The proposal should communicate an understanding of rural communities’ unique issues and effectively uses mentorship to assist in securing external funding. An expectation exists that external funding will be requested, from either a foundation or a government entity, of at least $200,000 if an award is provided via this solicitation.
